Two years ago, Jamie Mainwaring and Remy Remington had nothing in common except missing boys and a blazing hot mutual distraction. When the case was over, so were they. Although they went their separate ways, life—and death—keep the men connected.

After another deadly tragedy touches both their lives, the men say what they believe must be their final goodbyes—only to have their worlds collide once again. This time they end up in Las Vegas, one man for work, the other to try to mend a very personal pain.

Although Jamie and Remy once excelled at mixing business with pleasure—this time, the stakes are much higher—they’ve got forever on the line. When they discover Jamie’s case has an unexpected connection to Remy’s son, they must put everything aside to find Toby before the young man makes a decision that will change all of their lives. One thing is positive, time is running out.

***This is the final installment in the Separate Ways Series. The books should be enjoyed in the following order

Prevailing Winds Separate Ways Book 4 edition by Laura Harner Literature Fiction eBooks

When I read the first book in this series, CONTINENTAL DIVIDE, I didn't KNOW it was a series. I as so upset when I looked down at my Kindle and saw that I was at 90% and the MC's hadn't made a move to be together. Then 95%, then 99%... What was going on????? OMG! This series has 4 books in it!!!! What a ride it's been. Remy, Jamie, Miggy, Toby....This last book is what I'd been waiting for. It's the love story that I thought I was getting with book one.
Ok, to be honest, I wasn't sure how I was feeling when I read this because my insides were so clenched that I actually thought I was giving myself an ulcer. I kept waiting for....well, I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't read the series. My emotions were all over the place with this one and that's why it's taken me so long to write this review. ( Well, that and I actually stink at writing reviews...)
******************************SPOILERS*************************************
When Jamie & Remy meet up in Vegas, I actually thought that one of them was going to get really hurt. I'm so glad that didn't happen. Also, I lived in Vegas for a year. My sister still lives there. I did not know that there were tunnels under the strip!!! Interesting... I HATED that Toby felt like he couldn't call Remy, that he didn't trust Remy to do the right thing. (As in NOT sleep with Jamie after the funeral), that his only option was to go and find Pepper. I can't even get into what happened there. It makes my heart hurt. Pepper....so sad.
As Jamie & Remy fight to help Toby, they are also growing closer together. It was wonderful to FINALLY see, to feel, to read the love story that started all those books ago. Then when Remy shows up in England....**sigh** FINALLY!!!!
As I've said, I'm no good at writing reviews, but just know that Laura Harner is an exceptional story teller and this series...so worth the read. Remy will draw you in so fast...at least he did me.
The ups the downs the oooo's and the aaahhh's....so worth it. I'm sad to see this series end, but maybe Laura will grace us with a story about Toby & his love life and we'll get to see our guys again.
This story was the emotional rollercoaster that I've come to expect from Laura and Remy & Jamie. But in the end...so damn worth it.
Thank you, Laura.

Prevailing Winds Separate Ways Book 4 edition by Laura Harner Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

What an amazing ending to an incredible journey of love. The final installment and it couldn't have turned out better. Remy and Jamie fought so hard to overcome the obstacles...a very well deserved happy ending! Definitely worth the wait...great to see Toby a part of it all as well. I laughed, I cried and had my heart broken and put back together by these men! A great read...a must series!
I re-read all of the books in this series leading up to release day, so I fell in love with Remy, Jamie, Miggy, and Toby again. I am so happy with this book, it had the same intrigue and suspense as the first three, but this one really spent time with Remy and Jamie, I love their love story, Thanks Laura for another wonderful story, you never fail to make me happy. I'm a Phoenician too, so it's great to read about the Valley.
Still not up to "Continental Divide," the first of the series, but infinitely better than parts two and three.

Again, via a seriously questionable plot device, Remy and Jaime are thrown together. Remy seems to be evolving yet, while Jaime looks to be on the verge of devolving. That did maintain interest. The number of evil forces (the prince, the street hustlers, the homeless) is adequate, but not one is fleshed out enough to be interesting. Predictably, Remy and Jaime part once more near the end of the book.

SPOILER ALERT

Just in case you hadn't guessed (if so, what are you doing reading this review, since it's written in words of more than one syllable?) Remy and Jaime are reunited before the end of the book. They literally sail off into the sunset, and Remy can finally accept love. Toby is free of HIV, the new Earl seems to be a reasonable fellow, and they all lived happily ever after.
This book is the ending to the Separate Ways series. The last book ended with Remy mouthing "Don't go!" to Jaime and Jaime pretending not to see. Remy goes home to find that Toby is packed and leaving to find his friend from the first book Pepper in Las Vegas. Remy gets drunk and goes on a bender for 3 days. He is asked to leave town so he cannot be used by Miggy's sister's legal team or IA. He tracks Toby to Vegas and heads there. He also tracked Jaime's credit card and finds out he is in Vegas. He decides to kill two birds.

Jaime was talked into escorting a diplomat from Norway home. She had been keeping her foreign housemaids prisoner. There he was asked by Julia to go to Vegas and find a Saudi prince who was beating street boys nearly to death. He had Pepper, one of the boys he had saved in the first book. He was to tell him his diplomatic privileges had been withdrawn and the next time he got into trouble, he could be deported back to Saudi where he would be executed. He took the job because of the guilt he still felt for not making more of an effort to help them like Remy had with Toby.

There is the HEA for Jaime and Remy we have wanted since the first book. It is not an easy one though and they work hard to stay together. We lose another character and there is violence. I like these character and will read more of Ms. Harner's work.
To do something like a series you must begin as you intend to go on, and that is exactly what Laura Harner has done with Separate Ways. In the last book of the series she ties up all of the loose threads and gives us a rollicking good time, with angst, thrills, chills, and plenty of twists and turns. Did you know there was a whole community right under your feet as you stroll down the Strip in Las Vegas? That and many other surprises are in this story.
You really don't know how this is going to turn out until you get to the end and then you think, well of course, it couldn't end any other way. Not everyone lives to the end of the series or this story. But there is an HEA for someone that is very satisfying. My only regret is it is over. I have a serious book hangover that makes it difficult to start another book. Maybe I'll take a break and watch some TV... Nah. Too many good books on my begging for attention. See you on down the bookshelf.
